Founding Product & UX Lead
London, United Kingdom · Full-time · Founding Team
Design the product that transforms how the built world works.
Omnibuildos is looking for a Founding Product & UX Lead to join our founding team in London and help build Omnibuild OS (OOS), a new generation of AI-native Construction Operating System.
This is not a conventional Product Manager role.
We are looking for someone who combines product thinking, UX/UI design, AI-native working methods and practical execution in one person.
Someone who can understand a customer's problem, define the right product, design the user experience, create a working prototype and work directly with engineers to turn that prototype into software.
We believe that, at the earliest stage of product development, these responsibilities are most effective when driven by one capable mind rather than divided prematurely across several roles.
We are looking for a product builder, not simply a product coordinator.
The Mission
Omnibuildos is developing an AI-native operating system designed to bring greater intelligence, transparency and continuity to the construction industry.
Our initial product, OOS Gateway 2 AI Pre-Check, will help developers and construction professionals identify missing information, inconsistent documents, insufficient evidence and potential compliance gaps before submitting applications to the UK's Building Safety Regulator.
The underlying challenge is complex.
A single construction project may involve thousands of documents, numerous regulations, technical drawings, multiple professional disciplines and continuously changing information.
Our goal is to turn this complexity into software that is clear, practical and useful to the professionals who depend on it.
The Founding Product & UX Lead will play a central role in making that happen.
Your responsibility is to turn complex professional knowledge and emerging AI capabilities into a product that customers can understand, trust and use.
What You Will Lead
You will take ownership of the product journey from customer discovery through to design, prototyping, testing and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Working directly with UK property developers, architects, engineers, design consultants and building safety professionals to understand their real working practices.
Identifying customer problems, commercial priorities and opportunities where software can deliver measurable value.
Defining product strategy, user requirements, MVP scope and development priorities.
Designing user journeys, information architecture, workflows and intuitive user interfaces.
Personally creating wireframes, high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes and design systems using Figma and other modern tools.
Using AI tools extensively to accelerate research, product development, UX exploration, prototyping and testing.
Working closely with the CTO, AI engineers, software architects and domain experts to translate technical capabilities into practical product features.
Designing AI-powered workflows that combine automated analysis with professional judgement and human review.
Testing prototypes with real customers, learning from their feedback and continuously improving the product.
Maintaining product clarity, usability and consistency as the platform evolves.
You will not simply write requirements and pass them to a designer or engineering team.
You will be expected to think, design, test and solve problems personally.
Understanding the Customer
This role requires direct engagement with the UK construction industry.
You must be comfortable discussing real projects and practical challenges with:
Property developers and development directors
Architects and principal designers
Structural and building services engineers
Fire safety consultants
Building Control and Gateway 2 specialists
Construction project managers and other industry professionals
Strong spoken and written English, excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with UK-based professionals are essential.
We particularly value candidates who understand the working culture, terminology and practical challenges of the UK construction and property development sectors.
A background in architecture, engineering, construction management, Building Information Modelling (BIM), ConstructionTech or PropTech would be a significant advantage.
However, direct construction experience is not essential if you have exceptional product capabilities and can learn a complex industry quickly.
AI-Native Product Development
AI is central to both the product we are building and the way we expect our team to work.
We are looking for an AI power user who actively explores and applies the latest AI tools to improve personal productivity, accelerate experimentation and achieve better results.
You should be comfortable using AI for:
Customer and market research
Product discovery and requirements analysis
UX/UI exploration and design alternatives
Rapid prototyping and front-end experimentation
Product documentation and interface content
User testing, analytics and iterative improvement
You should also understand that successful AI products require much more than an intelligent chatbot.
For example, an AI-generated compliance issue should help users understand the relevant evidence, source documents, document versions, reasons for concern and recommended next actions.
Professional users must be able to review, challenge, accept, assign and resolve such issues.
AI output alone is not the product. The workflow that makes AI output useful and trustworthy is the product.
You do not need to be an AI researcher or software architect.
But you must be capable of working closely with technical specialists and translating AI capabilities into valuable customer experiences.
Who We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in a high-potential, fast-learning, hands-on product professional who is ready to take significant ownership in a founding team.
You may currently be a Product Designer, Senior UX/UI Designer, Product Lead, Design Engineer or an emerging product leader.
Your current title matters less than your ability to build outstanding products.
You should bring:
Strong hands-on expertise in UX/UI design, especially Figma and modern prototyping tools.
The ability to combine product management, user experience and interface design.
Experience designing complex B2B SaaS platforms, professional workflows, dashboards or data-intensive applications.
Familiarity with AI/LLM products and AI-assisted design and development workflows.
Strong product judgement and an understanding of why customers adopt and pay for software.
The ability to simplify complicated processes without losing essential functionality.
High intellectual curiosity, rapid learning ability and sound analytical thinking.
Excellent design taste, with a preference for clarity, simplicity and professional usability.
The confidence to work directly with customers, senior executives and highly skilled engineers.
A collaborative, low-ego approach and a strong sense of personal ownership.
The ability to work independently in a small team without extensive organisational support.
Experience with early-stage startups, founding teams or products developed from concept to commercial launch would be particularly valuable.
Relevant backgrounds may include AI SaaS, ConstructionTech, PropTech, RegTech, LegalTech, FinTech or enterprise software.
We value learning speed, creativity, judgement and growth potential more than years of experience, corporate titles or the size of teams previously managed.
What Success Looks Like
In your first six months, we would expect you to contribute directly to the development of our initial OOS Gateway 2 product.
Success will involve:
Understanding real customer workflows and defining a focused MVP.
Creating a coherent, interactive product prototype covering project workspaces, document management, readiness dashboards, issues, evidence mapping, AI assistance and professional review.
Working with engineers to turn the prototype into a functional early product.
Testing the product with real industry professionals and improving it through rapid iteration.
Helping deliver an initial customer pilot that demonstrates practical value and commercial potential.
Our objective is not to build the largest possible number of features.
It is to solve a meaningful customer problem exceptionally well.
We will judge success by the quality of the product, the problems it solves, the experience it delivers and the value customers recognise.
This Role Is Different
In many organisations, product strategy, product management, UX design and UI design are separate functions.
At Omnibuildos's founding stage, we believe these capabilities should be closely integrated.
We want someone who can interview a construction executive in the morning, redesign a workflow in Figma in the afternoon, discuss AI behaviour with the CTO and work alongside an engineer to test the improved product.
We are not looking for someone whose principal contribution is managing meetings, maintaining Jira boards or coordinating large teams.
We are looking for someone who enjoys creating products and solving difficult problems.
As Omnibuildos grows, this position offers the opportunity to develop into a broader product leadership role, potentially VP Product or Chief Product Officer, helping shape the company's future product organisation.
We offer competitive London compensation and meaningful equity participation, reflecting the importance of this founding-team position.
Founding Product & UX Lead
